Message Well, Dan (chivas), after having driven 11 hours from Altanta Saturday, decided to drop by and get a few things sorted out on his TT. One thing we noticed was a couple of split vacuum lines so we went ahead and replaced those with silicon hoses. No big deal there.

Then Dan noticed one of his fuel line clamps had been utterly crushed by his front strut bar, decided that we should replace the clamp. One thing led to another, he decided to replace the fuel line as well. Needless to say, Dan exerted a little too much force while trying to pull the fuel hose off and caused a small hairline fracture in the metal fuel bracket. We didn't know this until everything had been put back together and upon starting the car up, a jet stream of gasoline began to squirt out of the hair line crack. "Motherf%%cking son of a b@tch!!!"

Dan needed to return to NJ so we called Bruce_Zee (MD) to borrow his fuel bracket from his currently down Z. We drove 30 minutes over there, took the bracket off, chatted a bit and returned to my place to temporarily fix the cracked bracket. Everything went well so we decide a Ramen dinner in order.

After dinner, Dan had to leave and started his car up. Just as he moved barely 5 yards, his car began pissing gas under the car. I screamed out to him to shut the car off. By then the car has spewed about a quart of gas. We opened to the hood only to find his engine nicely doused in gas. Guess what? A small but different fuel line decided it wanted to burst in a very big way... no small split, no pin hole leak, the hose literally exploded!!! Needless to say, Dan wasn't going anywhere just yet. We push his car back to the parking space and began tearing the car apart again. In case you guys are wondering, the small hose we are referring to is the small hose that is located under the Nissan valve cover.

So we whip the tools out again and replaced a couple more hoses to be on the safe side. Mind you the gas that was on the engine was smoking and soon we developed a cheap high out of it... LOL

The job was done, so I decided that I would run my car as it had been sitting for the last 10 days under the car cover. I had popped the hood just to inspect a rattle and no sooner than I had started the car, my TT also similar fuel leak (although not to the near catastrophic extent to Dan's fuel line burst). Mine was pissing a very small stream of gas from a fuel line that had recently split.

So I immediately shut it down, called Dan over, and as soon as he found out what the problem was, we just both had to bust out laughing... LOL Perhaps it was because we were still kinda high from Dan's fountain of fuel display... LOL

We went ahead and replaced my fuel line and luckily no more leaks again. Mean while Dan's car was still wreaking of gasoline smell, luckily both of our cars were not on the road or we would have had a serious engine fire.

This is a warning to all Z-ers that you should inspect and replace any or all fuel lines if they look dry or brittle in any way. We could have easily lost two Z's tonight but luckily we were able to take immediate and appropriate actions to prevent this.

We hope that no one would have to go through the ordeal that both Dan and I had just gone through. Had we not noticed this problem tonight, it would definitely be a catastrophe for at least one of us.

Let's hope that none of you would have to repeat what Dan had exclaimed during his fuel leak saga. (His exact words were and I apologized for the language, "FUCK ME!!!")
